The Catastrophic Vitality

The collection, ‘The Catastrophic Vitality’ is describing the most tragic moment in a person’s life. My inspiration started from the memory of serving in the military. The army I joined has long operated in a collective and closed atmosphere, which caused me to feel depressed and bleak, creating irreversible wounds.

Humans are very cruel animals. In 1950, the Korean War began, and many people suffered

and died. We all know that humans make war, but even in that situation, the flowers of hope bloom. I wanted to focus on the raw energy of blooming flowers and open a window to the turbulent inner world of war by contrasting work that candidly depicts a spirit of explosion like love, courage or angerIn this collection, I used vitality and chaos to express the power of the message. I used graphite pencils to create the main figures and altered the images using various graphic design programs to convey this concept.
